Maze Odyssey

Game description

You are a green alien of an unnamed species, embarking on a dangerous journey to reach the summit of the northern mountains — a rite of passage in your culture.

Armed with nothing but your wits, you must avoid threats lurking in every corner. Fortunately, mysterious power-ups and ancient devices are scattered throughout the land to aid you.

I like to describe the game as a new take on the maze genre — you are unarmed, and survival depends entirely on navigation, power-ups, and timing.

Each level consists of five areas, with the fifth area being a boss fight. Levels are accessed through a central world map, and new levels unlock as you complete previous ones.

Controls: 

In menus and dialogue boxes, the mouse is used for interaction. During gameplay, use the following keyboard controls:

• Arrow keys or WASD – Move

• P – Pause and open the menu (includes a "How to Play" section with hints)

• X – Use a power-up (when available)

• Z – Use an antidote (if you're Wounded – a condition caused by some enemies/hazards)

• C – Use the Dodge ability to briefly avoid danger

Development

This game has been in development for 6 years and has gone through several visual and gameplay iterations.

Everything — code, art, music — was created by the developer. Only sound effects and fonts come from external sources.

I’ve done my best to minimize sprite tearing, though some minor issues remain (especially on smaller screens). The experience improves significantly on larger displays.

f an update is released, you'll need to download the game again. However, your save files will remain intact, and you'll be able to continue your progress.
